Have you resigned yourself to the fact that your attorney will not utilize digital software solutions for managing your caseload? Does your attorney have no desire to work with digital documents? All must be hard files, notebooks and trial boards. Do you feel like you are becoming stagnant in your computer/digital skills because your attorney refuses to utilize digital document tools and software? Due to time constraints, with only so many hours in a work day, I bet you are feeling it is an impossible task to meet your attorney’s wants/needs and keep yourself savvy with the ever changing technology. HG can assist in moving you and your attorney into the digital direction you desire. Let me be clear in saying the goal is to get a portion of your work to an appropriate digital level that will be comfortable for you and your attorney. It is not realistic to expect that you will operate in a total digital mode. Even the most tech savvy paralegals and attorneys work with hard copies of documents, files, etc. at some level.

Moving a steadfast attorney in a new direction is not easy. It takes a plan of action on your part because you know how your attorney works and you, and only you, can be the one to decide the best way to proceed. Ease into it … Do not try to drive your attorney to view digital at every turn. You will be faced with a wall of resistance. Effective/long term change will come with slow methodical implementation on your part. You're innovative and forward-thinking! You anticipate what your attorney wants/needs and then you perform the task in the way which works best for you and provide it as requested. The key to being successful in this endeavor is to function in the software/digital format like you do with hard files.

For example, if it is your practice to create pleading notebooks, create digital notebooks in the very same format. For instance, if your attorney wants to see the First Amended Pleading or another pleading, you can pull it up instantly and email it and then go pull the hard copy from the file. Imagine producing a copy of a document your attorney is requesting in two seconds rather than the 20 minutes it would normally take to track down exactly what is requested. Depending on the software you are using, you are able to perform searches, highlight text, tear outs, redact, create trial boards, create page and line designations, etc. all in seconds. We all want to work smarter, not harder!

Think of the possibilities ... assembling an entire war room of materials, filing cabinets full of hard copies of depositions with countless exhibits, blow up boards all on your laptop. Rather than standing on your head in a box full of documents trying to track down a particular medical chart or demonstrative graph, you can find it with a click of your mouse. No more staying late at the office pouring over documents to draft responses to discovery when you can take it home with you on a thumb drive.

Aren’t you ready for a change? The rewards are limitless! By moving your attorney in a more digital direction, you further your skills with case building software solutions maintaining a competitive edge in the ever changing legal field. Put your best foot forward with clients, judges, juries, etc. If you do not know how to take the next step on this challenge, call HG. We can evaluate the software programs you currently have at your disposal to help you get there. There are also free software options available. Further, if training is an issue, we offer complimentary training for most of the commonly used software programs, if you are utilizing HG services.

With countless court dramas / legal series being displayed on every TV channel today, our society is picking up on this technology and is expecting to see it when they are presented the facts of the case. So, let HG help you move into the digital realm! Don't let opposing counsel beat you there! www.hglitigation.com
